Minibus Driver & Porter

Based at Holy Trinity School, Crawley

Salary: £26,500
Hours: 8am-5pm Monday to Friday, with 1-hour unpaid lunch break. (52 weeks)
Contract: Permanent

About the Role

We are looking to recruit a reliable, friendly and flexible Minibus Driver & Porter to join the Facilities Management team supporting Holy Trinity School, Crawley.

This is a varied and rewarding role that combines the safe transportation of students and staff with practical site support, helping to ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of the school.

As part of the on-site Facilities Management team, you will play an important role in maintaining a safe, welcoming and well-presented environment for students, staff and visitors. You'll also be responsible for providing a professional, reliable transport service for students, staff and school activities.

The successful candidate will be employed by GenOne, the school's Facilities Management provider, working closely with colleagues to deliver a high-quality service and support the wider school community.

Key Responsibilities

Transport

· Safely transport students to and from school, between school sites and on educational visits, sporting fixtures and other school activities.

· Provide transport for members of staff between the school and the local train station as required.

· Ensure the safety, welfare and appropriate behaviour of students whilst travelling.

· Drive safely and responsibly at all times in accordance with the Highway Code, road traffic legislation and school policies.

· Carry out daily vehicle safety and roadworthiness checks before each journey.

· Report any defects, faults, accidents or incidents promptly and ensure appropriate records are maintained.

· Assist with the cleaning, refuelling and routine upkeep of school vehicles to maintain high standards of safety and presentation.

· Liaise with the Site Manager regarding transport arrangements, route changes, delays or operational issues.

· Respond calmly and professionally to transport-related incidents or emergencies, following school procedures.

Porter & Site Support

· Support the Site Manager with general porterage duties across the school.

· Set up and clear classrooms, halls and meeting spaces for lessons, events and activities.

· Move furniture, equipment and resources safely around the site.

· Receive, unload and distribute deliveries.

· Assist with general maintenance and operational tasks as required.

· Help maintain a safe, clean and secure environment for students, staff and visitors.

· Work in accordance with Health & Safety legislation, safe working practices and school policies.

· Undertake any other reasonable duties appropriate to the post.

About You

We're looking for someone who:

· Holds a full UK driving licence and is legally entitled to drive the school's minibus.

· Has an excellent driving record and demonstrates safe, responsible driving at all times.

· Is reliable, punctual and well organised.

· Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

· Enjoys working with young people and understands the importance of providing excellent customer service.

· Can work independently, whilst also contributing positively as part of a team.

· Is able to carry out basic vehicle safety checks and identify when maintenance is required.

· Has an understanding of Health & Safety legislation and safe working practices.

· Understands the importance of safeguarding, confidentiality and professionalism within a school environment.

· Is flexible, approachable and willing to support the wider Facilities Management team.

· Previous experience within a school, facilities management, transport or customer-facing environment would be advantageous, although full training will be provided.
