Job Summary

We are seeking a friendly and efficient Shop Assistant/Cashier to join our retail team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing excellent customer service, handling transactions accurately, and maintaining an organised sales environment. This role offers an opportunity to develop valuable retail skills within a dynamic and welcoming setting. Fluency in English is essential, with additional language skills such as Spanish or other languages considered a plus. The position is paid and suitable for individuals who are organised, personable, and capable of working in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

Greet customers warmly and assist them with their purchases in a professional manner
Operate the cash register efficiently, ensuring accurate processing of transactions
Handle cash, card payments, and returns with precision and integrity
Provide information about products, promotions, and store policies to customers
Maintain the organisation and visual presentation of merchandise on shelves and displays
Upsell products where appropriate to maximise sales opportunities
Manage stock levels by replenishing shelves and organising stockroom areas
Ensure the shop floor remains clean, tidy, and welcoming at all times
Communicate effectively with team members to ensure smooth daily operations
Utilise organisational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently during busy periods

Requirements

Fluency in English;
Strong communication skills.
Basic maths skills for handling cash transactions accurately
Good organisational skills with the ability to manage time effectively
Experience in merchandising or retail is advantageous but not essential; training will be provided
Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service with a positive attitude
Reliable with good organisational skills and attention to detail
