The Role
We are seeking to recruit a hardworking and enthusiastic coordinator to support the Admissions department at George Heriot’s School.
Reporting to the Admissions Manager, the Admissions Coordinator is responsible for supporting the implementation of the Admissions Strategy. The Admissions Coordinator will deputise for the Admissions Manager in her absence and provide general admissions support as required.
The Admissions Office has a vital role to play in the School as it is the first point of contact for enquires about pupil entry to Heriot’s. It is a small team working together to provide a high-quality customer service and experience. It handles all documentation throughout the entry process from the first enquiry and the receipt of applications to a pupil’s placement on the school roll.
As part of the Admissions team, you will be expected to undertake some duties relating to marketing of Heriot's and as such some previous marketing experience may be advantageous.

Excellent administrative, organisational and interpersonal skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate courteously, professionally and effectively with colleagues, prospective parents, guardians and others by phone and face to face.

Some previous marketing experience is advantageous

To demonstrate a can-do attitude with a focus on collaboration and communication within a small team.

A pro-active approach to work, balanced with the ability to engage and consult constructively.

Working knowledge of the following packages:

Word / Outlook / Excel / Database systems.

Proven record and experience gained within a similar role preferred.

The ability to manage and prioritise a diverse workload, to meet deadlines, and to work calmly and accurately under pressure and with excellent attention to detail.

George Heriot’s School is Edinburgh’s leading independent school. Since it opened, the Foundation at Heriot’s has developed an unrivalled understanding of providing bereavement support and over the years has educated in excess of 5,700 Foundation pupils, each of whom received a fully funded education in keeping with the Founder’s wishes.
Separately, the school has continued to apply the transformative powers of education, opening 21 Out Schools in the 1800s which educated over 100,000 boys and girls in Edinburgh before the advent of the Children’s Act, and more recently supporting Serbian, Syrian and Ukrainian refugees to build a better life in Scotland. Each year the school spends approximately £1.3 million to support the education of bursary and Foundation pupils.
Today the school is an award-winning beacon: the only school in Scotland to receive the Gold Award from SAPERE for its teaching of philosophy in Junior School; awarded a third consecutive gold award for being a UNICEF Rights Respecting School and being voted the Sunday Times School of the Decade by readers in their Parent Power survey.
