Full job description

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is one of the largest healthcare systems in the United Kingdom, employing approximately 40,000 staff across a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health services to a population of over 1.15 million people, and to a wider population of 2.2 million when regional and national services are included.

The role:

This role will require the selected post holder to work under the supervision of the Mental Health Act Administrator to develop a broad understanding and practical experience of Mental Health Legislation. The role involves supporting the administrative processes required to implement and manage various types of mental health detentions.

This role does not meet the eligibility criteria for a Skilled Worker visa or a Heath and Care Worker visa. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is unable to provide candidates or employees with a Certificate of Sponsorship (COS)

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

Permanent post, 1 part-time vacancy available

Base location - Gartnavel Royal Hospital

Shift Pattern -

18 hours

Monday - Tuesday 0900-1245 Wednesday Friday 0915-1245

Key responsibilities:

Work under the guidance of the Mental Health Act Administrator.
Gain experience in the application and administration of:
- Mental Health (Care & Treatment) (Scotland) Act 2003
- Criminal Procedure (Scotland) Act 1995 (as amended)
- Adults with Incapacity (Scotland) Act 2000
Support administrative arrangements required for managing different types of mental health detentions.
Participate in extensive local training delivered by senior staff to build practical knowledge and competence.

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

Knowledge of Mental Health Legislation equivalent to SVQ Level 3.
Working knowledge of key aspects of Mental Health Legislation, gained through induction and training led by the Health Records Manager or Supervisor.
IHRIM Basic Level Certificate of Technical Competence.
ECDL or equivalent digital skills/experience.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interacting with a wide range of people.
