Job Overview

We are looking for an experienced and adaptable General Builder to join our heritage construction team. The successful candidate will have a strong all round skill set across a range of trades, including carpentry, roofing, masonry, plastering, tiling, and kitchen and bathroom installation. The role involves working on a variety of projects, including heritage conservation and restoration works, while maintaining the highest standards of craftsmanship, quality, and safety.

Key Responsibilities

Carry out a wide range of carpentry tasks, including framing, fitting doors and windows, and installing fixtures and fittings.
Undertake roofing repairs and installations, ensuring weatherproofing and structural integrity.
Perform masonry duties such as bricklaying, block work, repointing, and concrete works.
Deliver high quality plastering and lime plastering in both traditional and modern settings.
Install floor and wall tiling to a high standard of finish.
Fit kitchens and bathrooms, including associated building works.
Safely and effectively operate a variety of hand tools and power tools, including drills, saws, grinders, hammers, and chisels.
Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment in compliance with health and safety regulations.
Work collaboratively with colleagues and contractors to ensure projects are completed on time and to specification.

Skills & Experience

Proven experience as a General Builder or in a similar Building construction role.
Strong practical knowledge of carpentry, roofing, masonry, plastering, tiling, and kitchen and bathroom fitting.
Experience working on heritage, conservation, restoration, residential, or commercial construction projects is advantageous.
Competent in the safe use of hand tools and power tools within a construction environment.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and construction plans.
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to delivering high quality workmanship.
Strong organisational and problem solving skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to continually develop skills and expertise.
NVQ level 2 or equivalent
Valid UK Driving Licence
Valid CSCS card

This role is ideal for a motivated multi skilled trades person who enjoys working on varied and rewarding projects while contributing to the preservation and enhancement of both historic and modern buildings.

Pay: £20.00 per hour
