Desktop Engineer
Location: Weston-Super-Mare / Hybrid
Contract Type: Full time, Permanent (37 hours per week)
Salary: Up to £36,000 p.a. (DOE)
As an IT Desktop Engineer at Delt, you’ll provide enterprise-level support to multiple large customer organisations across the Southwest. Working within a complex, multi-tenanted environment, you’ll be responsible for administering the technologies and tools that support end user devices throughout their entire lifecycle.
This role goes beyond day-to-day support. You’ll contribute to service improvement, project delivery and the adoption of modern workplace technologies, helping to ensure Delt’s end user computing services are secure, scalable and aligned with organisational strategy and industry best practice.
You’ll work closely with colleagues across Infrastructure, Projects and Service Management, supporting customers with confidence while helping shape how services evolve.
What you’ll do
- Delivering, maintaining and supporting end user device hardware, software and related components across multiple customer estates.
- Supporting services in line with IT strategy, enterprise architecture and industry best practice to ensure reliability, security and scalability.
- Delivering discrete technical work packages and contributing to wider infrastructure and end user computing projects.
- Evaluating, testing and implementing new technologies, software and services to improve user experience and service efficiency.
- Providing accurate effort and time estimates for customer requests and project activity.
- Supporting customers and colleagues across operational processes, project engagements and service improvements.
- Providing guidance to junior colleagues, contributing to capability development within the team.
- Keeping up to date with industry trends, product lifecycles and technology roadmaps to inform recommendations and future planning.
What you’ll bring
You’ll be a customer-focused IT professional with strong technical foundations and a proactive approach to service delivery.
- Microsoft MCP, MCTS or equivalent demonstrable experience.
- ITIL Foundation (v3 or v4).
- Proven experience working in a professional, ITIL-aligned service environment.
- Experience contributing to technical project delivery and working with project managers and third-party suppliers.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating systems and device management platforms, including SCCM and Intune.
- Experience supporting mobile and modern endpoint platforms such as Apple Business Manager and Android Enterprise.
- Experience with application packaging and deployment (App-V, MSI, MSIX).
- Good working knowledge of Group Policy, Active Directory, Azure AD, Conditional Access and Microsoft security baselines.
- Familiarity with modern endpoint security, patch management and compliance practices.
- Excellent troubleshooting, communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- A strong sense of ownership and accountability for service quality.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across customer sites.
