Full job description

Exe Valley Farm Shop is a family-run business passionate about quality local produce and exceptional food. Our café is growing, and we are looking for a talented and enthusiastic Chef to join our friendly team. We take pride in using fresh, seasonal ingredients, including our own home-reared meats sourced directly from our farm.

The Role

As our Chef, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality dishes for our busy farm shop café while helping us continue to develop and grow our food offering.

Responsibilities:

Prepare and cook fresh, high-quality meals to a consistently high standard.
Create seasonal dishes using locally sourced ingredients and our own farm-reared meats.
Assist with menu development and bring new ideas to the café.
Maintain excellent food hygiene, safety, and cleanliness standards.
Manage stock rotation, food preparation, and kitchen organisation.
Support catering for occasional events and special functions.
Work effectively as part of a friendly and supportive team.

What We're Looking For:

Previous experience working as a Chef or Cook in a professional kitchen.
Passion for fresh food and local produce.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
A positive attitude and excellent teamwork skills.
Flexibility to work one weekend day each week.

Desirable:

Experience working with seasonal menus and locally sourced ingredients.
Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (or willingness to obtain one).
Experience in café, farm shop, or gastro-pub environments.
