Job Overview

We are seeking an energetic and passionate Gymnastics Head Coach to lead our gymnastics program with enthusiasm and expertise. In this role, you will inspire athletes of all ages and skill levels, develop training plans, and foster a positive, motivating environment that encourages growth, discipline, and excellence.

Your leadership will be instrumental in elevating our gymnastics programmes and helping athletes achieve their personal best while ensuring safety and enjoyment at every step. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a lasting impact.

Responsibilities

Plan, organise, and deliver high-quality gymnastics training sessions appropriate to athletes’ ages, abilities, and competitive levels.
Develop individual and team training plans focused on skill progression, strength, flexibility, technique, confidence, and performance.
Monitor gymnast development and provide regular, constructive feedback.
Ensure all training is delivered safely and in accordance with the club's relevant gymnastics guidelines, safeguarding requirements, and club policies.
Conduct appropriate risk assessments and maintain safe coaching practices, including correct use of equipment and spotting techniques.
Promote welfare and create a positive, inclusive, respectful, and motivating training environment.
Recognize and appropriately report safeguarding, welfare, injury, or safety concerns.
Provide leadership, guidance, mentoring, and support coaches and assistants.
Support the professional development of coaches by providing feedback, sharing best practices.
Establish clear expectations regarding student behaviour,, discipline, and training standards.
Communicate professionally with gymnasts, parents/guardians, coaches, club management, and other relevant stakeholders.
Provide parents/guardians with appropriate updates regarding athlete development, competition preparation, and relevant program information.
Work with club management to establish short- and long-term objectives for the gymnastics programme.
Ensure gymnastics equipment and training areas are appropriately maintained, stored, and checked for safety concerns.
Assist with recruitment, trials, assessments, squad selection, and movement between training groups where applicable.
Support the organization and delivery of sessions, camps, clinics, displays, fundraising activities, and club events.
Maintain appropriate coaching qualifications, safeguarding training, first-aid certification, and continuing professional development as required.
Represent the club professionally and demonstrate strong leadership, integrity, sportsmanship, and commitment to the club’s values.
Perform other reasonable coaching and programme-related duties required to support the successful operation and development of the gymnastics program.

Requirements;

Proven coaching experience
Strong teaching skills with the ability to instruct athletes of diverse ages and skill levels
Excellent communication skills to motivate athletes and collaborate with team members
Knowledge of safety standards and injury prevention practices in gymnastics training
Ability to lead by example with energy, enthusiasm, and professionalism
Certification or licensing relevant to gymnastics coaching is a plus but not mandatory
A passion for fostering athletic growth and creating an inclusive, encouraging environment.Qualifications;

Qualifications & Requirements

The Head Gymnastics Coach should hold, or be willing to obtain where indicated, the following qualifications and certifications:

Enhanced DBS Certificate – A current Enhanced DBS check, linked to the DBS Update Service
Safeguarding Qualification – A recognised and current safeguarding qualification is required. This may be acquired following appointment if not already held.
First Aid Qualification – A recognised and current First Aid qualification is required. This may be acquired following appointment if not already held.
Gymnastics Coaching Qualification – A recognised gymnastics coaching qualification appropriate to the level and discipline being coached.
Appropriate practical experience in coaching gymnastics, with the ability to safely plan and deliver structured gymnastics sessions.
Knowledge and understanding of safe coaching practices, athlete welfare, safeguarding responsibilities, and appropriate skill progression.
Previous experience leading or supervising other coaches, or within an alternative leadership position.

Please note this is a self-employed position, starting from September 2026 onwards.

Pay: £14.00-£25.00 per hour

Work Location: In person
