NHS Fife has an opportunity for an enthusiastic clinical pharmacist to provide pharmaceutical care to patients across our Substance Use service. We are looking to support development of an exceptional candidate by providing opportunity to develop and build on clinical knowledge, service development skills and gain expertise in Substance Use. You will support development of pharmacy services and pharmaceutical care within Substance Use services, including delivery of Independent Prescribing clinics.
Working within a highly integrated Pharmacy and Medicines Service, you will benefit from the support and mentorship of experienced senior pharmacists and close collaboration with colleagues across the Addiction Service, enabling you to develop your skills while contributing to high-quality patient care
The work will involve ensuring the safe, effective and economic use of medicines across care boundaries, by the delivery of high-quality pharmaceutical care so patients get the best possible outcomes from their medicines, avoiding harm and waste. You will be a team worker but have the ability to act independently. You will function as a key member of the NHS Fife Substance Use Service and Pharmacy & Medicines Directorate. This post would be ideal for a pharmacist who would like to specialise in Substance Use.
You will also be involved in education and training of other professionals and facilitating the implementation of local and national guidelines. You will be involved in local multidisciplinary patient safety initiatives. You should have a sound clinical knowledge and a commitment to high standards of pharmaceutical care. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential. You will be a registered pharmacist with a background in hospital, primary care or community pharmacy. Experience of working in more than one of these areas would be advantageous.
A relevant post-graduate qualification in clinical pharmacy or equivalent experience is desirable. An independent prescribing qualification is essential.
You are likely to be based within one geographical locality, although applicants should be flexible and be willing to have occasional travel throughout Fife.
The NHS Fife Pharmacy and Medicines Directorate has undergone an ambitious programme of transformation and integration. It serves a population of approximately 380,000 people and is provided by an integrated team of around 300 Pharmacy staff, including Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians, Pharmacy Support Workers, Nurses, and Administrators. The team works across Hospital Sites, General Practices, Mental Health services, and a range of specialist teams. Partnership working is at the core of our values, and we work closely with other members of the multi-disciplinary team, including our Community Pharmacy colleagues, to deliver the highest quality care for everyone in Fife.
