Alternative Provision Manager

September start date

Location: Schools/Community Settings/Office
Hours: Full-Time 37.5 hours per week
Salary: £28,509

Are you a strong, committed person who is passionate about leading impactful programmes that make a real difference in young people’s lives? Do you have experience managing Alternative Provision (AP) initiatives, supporting children with complex needs, and developing strategies to promote positive behaviour and personal growth? If so, Epic Partners is looking for an Alternative Provision Manager to oversee and enhance our AP services.

About the Role

As an Alternative Provision Manager, you will be responsible for leading, managing and delivering the development and delivery of our AP programmes. You will ensure high-quality provision that supports children and young people facing behavioural, emotional, and complex needs, helping them to thrive through sport, activity-based learning, and personal development initiatives. You will manage staff, build relationships with key stakeholders, and ensure compliance with safeguarding and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Lead, develop, and oversee the strategic direction and operational management of Alternative Provision.
Deliver on lessons and sessions in the Alterative Provision.
Manage a team of staff, including mentors, coaches, and volunteers, ensuring they are trained, supported, and motivated.
Design, implement, and evaluate structured programmes to support behaviour, emotional wellbeing, and personal development.
Build and maintain strong relationships with schools, local authorities, families, and other agencies to enhance provision and referrals.
Ensure the provision meets safeguarding and health & safety requirements, maintaining accurate records and reporting where necessary.
Monitor and evaluate programme effectiveness, making improvements based on feedback and best practice.
Oversee budget management for AP programmes, ensuring cost-effective delivery while maintaining quality.
Represent Epic Partners at relevant meetings, conferences, and networking events to promote the provision and build partnerships.
Develop and implement strategies to increase engagement, participation, and retention of young people.
Support funding applications and reporting to secure financial sustainability of the provision.

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic leader with a passion for making a difference in young people’s lives through Alternative Provision.

Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with young people, parents, staff, and external partners.
Strategic thinker with the ability to plan, implement, and evaluate projects effectively.
High level of organisational skills and attention to detail.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to challenges.
IT literate with the ability to manage reports, budgets, and communications effectively.

Experience & Knowledge

Proven experience managing Alternative Provision, youth engagement programmes, or similar initiatives.
Experience working with children and young people with complex needs, including behavioural challenges and SEND.
Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection policies and procedures.
Understanding of issues faced by children in disadvantaged communities.
Experience in budget management, monitoring outcomes, and reporting impact.
