We are looking for a friendly, enthusiastic and customer-focused Barista / Catering Assistant to join our busy Catering team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, takes pride in providing excellent customer service and thrives as part of a supportive team. You'll play an important role in delivering a welcoming experience for students, staff and visitors while helping to maintain high standards of quality, service and presentation.

About the Role

As a Barista / Catering Assistant, you will support the Catering Manager and wider team in the day-to-day operation of our catering facilities. From preparing and serving food and drinks to maintaining cleanliness and supporting events, you'll help ensure every customer receives a positive and professional experience.

This is a varied position that offers the opportunity to develop your customer service, catering and hospitality skills in a vibrant educational environment.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver excellent customer service to students, staff and visitors.
Prepare and serve hot and cold drinks, snacks and catering items.
Operate tills and handle cash accurately in line with financial procedures.
Maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout catering areas.
Wash up, clear tables and replenish stock as required.
Assist with stock control, merchandising and restocking shelves.
Support catering functions and special events when required.
Work flexibly as part of a rota to support the needs of the business.

About You

We're looking for someone who is positive, reliable and passionate about delivering great customer service.

Essential Requirements

Level 2 or above in English and Maths (or equivalent).
Experience of handling cash and operating tills.
Experience of working with the general public.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Ability to remain calm and efficient during busy periods.
Strong organisational and multitasking skills.
Flexible and willing to learn new skills.

Desirable

Experience working in a coffee shop or café environment.
Food Hygiene Certificate.
Experience operating vending machines.
First Aid qualification.
