Full job description

Job Title: Primal Butcher

Location: Owen Taylor and Sons Ltd
Hours: Monday to Friday, 05:00 – 15:00 (50 hours per week)
Rota Saturdays required throughout the year
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

We are currently seeking an experienced Primal Butcher to join our team. This is a full-time position suited to a skilled professional with strong knife skills, solid product knowledge, and experience in primal boning.

Key Responsibilities:

Breaking down carcasses into primal cuts accurately and efficiently
Performing primal boning to a high standard
Maintaining excellent yield control and product presentation
Adhering to food safety, hygiene, and health & safety standards
Supporting additional butchery and production duties as required

Essential Requirements:

Proven experience in primal boning
Strong meat knowledge and knife skills
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Reliable, punctual, and able to work early morning starts

Desirable:

Thorough understanding of the Meat Buyers Guide
Previous experience within a high-volume production environment

This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated butcher seeking stable, full-time hours within a professional and supportive working environment.
