Full job description

Overview
We are seeking a skilled Laser Operator to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating laser cutting machinery to produce precise components and assemblies. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a background in fabrication and mechanical processes to develop their expertise within a dynamic environment. The Laser Operator will play a vital part in ensuring high-quality production standards are maintained throughout all operations.

Duties

Set up and operate laser cutting machines according to specifications and technical drawings
Load and unload sheet metal and other materials safely and efficiently
Monitor machine operation during production runs, adjusting settings as necessary to maintain quality
Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and troubleshooting on laser equipment
Assist with fabrication processes such as grinding, welding, and assembly when required
Utilise hand tools and tooling to prepare materials for laser cutting or post-process finishing
Ensure safety protocols are followed at all times, maintaining a clean and organised work area
Document production data accurately and report any issues to supervisors promptly

Skills

Proven experience in fabrication, sheet metal work, or related manufacturing roles
Knowledge of grinding, welding, and assembly processes is advantageous
Mechanical knowledge with the ability to understand technical drawings and specifications
Proficiency in using hand tools, tooling, and basic measuring instruments such as calipers or micrometers
Strong understanding of basic maths for measurements and calculations during setup and quality checks
Familiarity with sheet metal handling and cutting techniques
Ability to work accurately under pressure while maintaining attention to detail
Good organisational skills with the ability to follow safety procedures diligently
