Care Co-ordinator
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Care Co-ordinator to join our busy domiciliary care team.
This is a hands-on, fast-paced role within a busy care environment where no two days are the same. You will play a key role in coordinating the day-to-day delivery of care, supporting care staff, managing changing priorities and ensuring that our service continues to provide safe, person-centred and high-quality care.
We are looking for someone who already has experience coordinating a domiciliary care service and understands the demands of managing care delivery in a busy operational environment.
The successful candidate will have a good working knowledge of the CQC regulatory framework, the Ethical Framework for Adult Social Care and Wigan Council requirements, alongside strong leadership, problem-solving and management skills.
What you'll be doing
- Coordinating the day-to-day delivery of a busy domiciliary care service
- Managing and responding to changes in care packages, staffing and service user requirements
- Supporting the effective planning and coordination of care calls and staff rotas
- Ensuring care is delivered in line with care plans, risk assessments, company procedures and regulatory requirements
- Supporting, supervising and providing direction to care staff
- Responding quickly and appropriately to sickness, staffing issues and other operational challenges
- Monitoring the quality and consistency of care being delivered
- Communicating effectively with service users, families, care staff, managers, social workers, healthcare professionals and other external agencies
- Supporting care plan reviews and ensuring relevant information is communicated to the care team
- Ensuring care records, documentation and systems are accurate and maintained appropriately
- Identifying concerns and taking appropriate action, escalating matters where necessary
- Supporting compliance with CQC regulations, contractual requirements and relevant local authority expectations
- Contributing to audits, quality monitoring and continuous improvement
- Supporting the management team with day-to-day operational issues
- Dealing with problems as they arise and finding practical solutions quickly
- Promoting a positive culture of teamwork, accountability and high standards of care
Shift Pattern & On-Call Requirements
This is a full-time role operating across a shift pattern to support the needs of our domiciliary care service.
The usual working pattern will include:
- 7:00am – 3:00pm
- 9:00am – 5:00pm
- 11:00am – 7:00pm
- 9:00am – 5:00pm
- x 2 week day on-call per month
- 1 weekend per month on-call
The role requires flexibility to work across these shift patterns and to respond to operational requirements as they arise.
You will be expected to be available to support the service during your allocated on-call periods, including dealing with staffing issues, care queries, emergencies and changes to care arrangements.
This role is particularly suited to someone who is flexible, organised and confident making decisions independently, including when working under pressure and outside standard office hours.
What we're looking for
We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:
- Previous experience coordinating a domiciliary care service
- A good understanding of the CQC regulatory framework and requirements
- Knowledge of the Ethical Framework for Adult Social Care
- An understanding of Wigan Council processes and requirements would be highly desirable
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- Excellent organisation and prioritisation skills
- The ability to manage multiple competing priorities in a busy office environment
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think quickly when situations change
- The ability to use initiative and make appropriate decisions
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- The confidence to manage challenging situations professionally
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records
- The ability to remain calm and professional under pressure
- Good IT and administration skills, with the ability to learn and use different care and office systems
- A genuine commitment to delivering safe, person-centred and high-quality care
Driving Licence
A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is desirable due to the nature of the role and the need to respond to operational requirements across our service.
The Working Environment
This is not a role where every day follows the same routine.
Our care team operates in a busy, fast-paced environment, and priorities can change throughout the day. You may be dealing with staffing issues, service user queries, rota changes, care concerns and management requests at the same time.
You will need to be someone who can think on your feet, prioritise effectively, take ownership and remain calm when things become busy.

You will need to understand that effective care coordination is about more than filling rotas. It is about ensuring that the right people are in the right place, that service users receive the care they require, that staff are supported and that the service operates safely, effectively and in line with regulatory and contractual requirements.
