General Assistant - Inverness

Do you enjoy working with people, plants, and within a busy retail environment? We’re looking for friendly, enthusiastic team members to join Simpsons Garden Centre as a General Assistant.

Simpsons is one of the UK’s leading destination garden centres and a multi-award winner, including Destination Garden Centre of the Year in Scotland. As a family-run business, we pride ourselves on excellent customer service, quality products, and a welcoming atmosphere for both customers and staff.

The Role...

As a General Assistant, you’ll support the day-to-day running of the garden centre across multiple departments both indoors and outdoors. This is a hands-on role where you’ll help customers, maintain displays and keep the centre clean, well stocked and welcoming, particularly during our busy spring and summer season.

You will play an important part in delivering a positive customer experience every day.

Key Responsibilities

Welcoming and assisting customers
Answering enquiries and offering basic product advice
Operating the till and handling transactions accurately
Replenishing, pricing and merchandising stock
Receiving deliveries and moving stock
Maintaining attractive and well-presented displays
Keeping retail areas clean, tidy and safe
General day-to-day support across the garden centre
Some lifting involved (a good level of fitness is helpful)

What We’re Looking For

Friendly, approachable and customer focused
Good communication and organisational skills
Able to work independently and as part of a team
A proactive and flexible attitude in a fast-paced environment
Attention to detail and good standards of presentation
Basic computer skills and confidence using point-of-sale systems
Interest in gardening, plants or retail (desirable but not essential)
Enjoys working both indoors and outdoors

Pay: £8.00-£12.75 per hour
