Full job description

Overview

We are seeking a passionate and energetic Junior Sous Chef to join our brilliant kitchen team at The Debenham Lion - recently voted best pub in Norfolk & Suffolk. In this role, you will support the head chef and senior chef. Your enthusiasm for food preparation, culinary innovation, and team work will help create a vibrant, efficient, and welcoming kitchen environment. This position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your culinary skills while contributing to a high-energy hospitality setting that values quality and teamwork.

Duties

Assist in supervising daily kitchen operations, ensuring smooth workflow and adherence to food safety standards
Support food production processes by preparing ingredients, assembling dishes, and maintaining high-quality presentation
Lead by example in food preparation and cooking, demonstrating technical skills and attention to detail
Oversee food safety protocols, ensuring compliance with health regulations and cleanliness standards
Coordinate with front-of-house staff to ensure timely serving of dishes and excellent guest service
Contribute to menu development by suggesting new ideas and refining existing recipes based on customer feedback and seasonal ingredients

Qualifications

Proven experience in a kitchen environment with hands-on food preparation and cooking skills
Strong knowledge of food safety practices and restaurant operations
Excellent communication skills with the ability to work well with the team
Passion for hospitality, culinary arts, and delivering memorable dining experiences
Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Prior restaurant experience is essential

Pay: £30,000.00-£33,000.00 per year
