About the role

ZAFRA is looking for confident and friendly Telephone Fundraisers to join our team in Bury St Edmunds.

You will make outbound calls on behalf of charities, not for profit organisations and other clients. Most calls will be made to existing donors, previous supporters, members or people who have already shown an interest in an organisation or its work. This is not random consumer cold calling.

Depending on the campaign, your conversations may involve:

Reconnecting with previous or inactive supporters
Speaking with existing donors about increasing their regular donation
Contacting prospective supporters who have shown an interest in a charity or cause
Discussing gifts in wills and legacy giving
Membership reactivation and renewals
Supporter engagement and telephone surveys

You will work across different campaigns, so you should be comfortable adapting your approach to suit different organisations, causes and audiences.

Some of our initial campaigns will be delivered on behalf of charities working within the pro life sector. Applicants must be comfortable representing these organisations professionally and respectfully.

What you will be doing

Making outbound calls to supporters, donors, members and prospects
Building rapport and holding natural telephone conversations
Explaining the purpose of each campaign clearly and accurately
Asking for donations or other forms of support where appropriate
Following campaign scripts while keeping conversations natural
Recording call outcomes and updating campaign records accurately
Working towards agreed quality and campaign targets
Representing ZAFRA and our clients professionally

Full paid training will be provided for every campaign, together with ongoing coaching and support.

What we are looking for

You should have:

Some previous telephone, fundraising, sales or call centre experience
Confidence speaking with people over the telephone
A clear, friendly and professional communication style
The ability to build rapport and hold engaging conversations
Confidence asking for donations or support appropriately
Sensitivity when discussing personal subjects such as gifts in wills
The ability to adapt between different campaigns and audiences
Good attention to detail and accurate data entry skills
A reliable and positive approach to work

Previous telephone fundraising or charity sector experience would be an advantage, but it is not essential.
