Wiltshire Mind is an independent charity supporting people across Wiltshire with their mental health and wellbeing. Our services are open and accessible to everyone in our community.

Job Summary:

The Lead for Adult and Young People’s Counselling Services and Wellbeing Groups is responsible for coordinating our counselling services and wellbeing groups. As a key member of the team, this is an important role in monitoring service performance, driving continuous improvement, and helping shape the future direction of the charity.

About the role – a summary

Lead and coordinate the delivery of adult and young people's counselling services, ensuring clients are matched with appropriately trained counsellors and receive timely, high-quality support.
Oversee the delivery of wellbeing groups, ensuring facilitators and volunteers are effectively recruited, supported, and scheduled to provide accessible and impactful services across Wiltshire.
Build and maintain a sustainable counselling team, developing a strong pipeline of counsellors, wellbeing group facilitators, and volunteers through effective recruitment, induction, training, and retention.
Provide leadership and expertise within the Wiltshire Mind core team, championing counselling and wellbeing services while contributing to organisational planning and service development.
Develop and maintain positive relationships with colleagues, volunteers, partners, referrers, and stakeholders to enhance service quality, accessibility, and community impact.
Ensure excellence in service administration, maintaining accurate records, compliance requirements, reporting processes, and referral pathways across all counselling and wellbeing services.
Monitor service performance and outcomes, using data, feedback, and insight to drive continuous improvement and demonstrate impact.
Support the effective delivery of all Wiltshire Mind services, contributing to a collaborative and high-performing culture that puts the needs of clients and communities at its heart.

Responsibilities

Plan, coordinate, and oversee the delivery of counselling services and wellbeing groups.
Maintain accurate client and service records in line with data protection, confidentiality, and organisational requirements.
Ensure clients receive safe, ethical, and high-quality counselling support in accordance with professional standards and safeguarding requirements.
Coordinate counsellor supervision arrangements and monitor attendance and engagement.
Support the financial sustainability of counselling services by maximising income opportunities and effective resource management.
Develop, review, and implement policies and procedures relating to referrals, assessments, cancellations, administration, and service delivery.
Research sector developments and best practice to inform continuous service improvement and innovation.
Build and maintain effective relationships with statutory, voluntary, and regulatory partners.
Ensure wellbeing groups provide welcoming, inclusive, and psychologically safe environments for participants.
Act as the lead representative for counselling and wellbeing services at internal meetings, trustee meetings, and external forums.
Contribute to governance and performance reporting, including the provision of service data and outcomes.
Work collaboratively with colleagues to support effective service delivery and organisational resilience.
Assist with the delivery of wider organisational projects, initiatives, and operational priorities as required.
Provide support and information to the Chief Operating Officer as required.
Act as a safeguarding resource for staff and volunteers in the absence of the Safeguarding Lead.
Conduct counselling assessments and client intake appointments where required.
Work closely with the Team Administrator to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of counselling and wellbeing services.

Qualifications and Skills

Qualification in counselling of at least a Level 4 diploma or equivalent.
A collaborative and supportive team player who builds positive working relationships.
Able to work autonomously, manage priorities effectively, and take ownership of outcomes.
Adaptable and responsive, with the ability to embrace change and contribute innovative ideas to service development.
Proactive and solution-focused, with the confidence to lead initiatives and drive continuous improvement.
Demonstrates leadership through Wiltshire Mind's values, behaviours, and commitment to high-quality service delivery.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with counsellors, wellbeing group facilitators, volunteers, colleagues, and external stakeholders.
Able to motivate, support, and empower others to achieve their full potential.
Demonstrates resilience, emotional intelligence, and professionalism when working in a dynamic and demanding environment.
Strong understanding of mental health, wellbeing, and the challenges faced by individuals accessing support services.
Commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity, inclusion, and person-centred practice.

Working hours (based at our office in Trowbridge)

15 hours over 3 days including some evening work up to 7pm.
