About the Role:
Marco Paul is a growing multi-channel e-commerce retailer selling a broad range of products through our own website, Amazon and major retail marketplaces including B&Q, The Range and Debenhams.
We are looking for an experienced Buyer to take ownership of key product categories and help drive sales, margin and stock performance across the business.
This is a hands-on, commercially focused role covering buying, forecasting, seasonal planning, supplier management, pricing and stock control.
You'll work directly with the owners and senior team and have genuine influence over what we buy, how much we buy and how we plan stock across our sales channels.
What You'll Be Responsible For:
Buying & Supplier Management
· Manage the end-to-end buying process across assigned categories.
· Manage relationships with UK and overseas suppliers.
· Negotiate pricing, terms, quantities and lead times.
· Place and manage purchase orders in line with sales and seasonal requirements.
· Identify new products and suppliers while continually reviewing the existing range.
· Resolve supplier issues relating to cost, quality, availability and delivery.
Forecasting, Stock & Seasonal Planning
Seasonal planning is a major part of this role.
· Forecast demand using historical sales, current performance and anticipated growth.
· Build purchasing plans around key seasonal trading periods.
· Plan ahead for overseas manufacturing and shipping lead times.
· Monitor stock cover and identify potential shortages or overstock risks early.
· Review actual performance against forecasts and adjust purchasing plans accordingly.
· Balance product availability with the commercial risk of holding excess stock.
Sales & Commercial Analysis
· Analyse sales and stock performance at SKU, category and channel level.
· Identify best sellers, underperforming products and emerging opportunities.
· Use data to make informed decisions on purchasing quantities, replenishment and future ranges.
· Monitor product margins, cost prices and landed costs.
· Work with the Commercial Manager and owners on pricing and profitability.
· Produce clear reporting and recommendations for management.
Multi-Channel Planning
Our products are sold across multiple channels, each with different demand patterns.
You'll work closely with our E-commerce and Commercial teams to understand promotions, marketplace opportunities and expected changes in demand, ensuring purchasing decisions reflect the total stock requirement across the business.
About You
We're looking for someone who is commercial, analytical, organised and confident taking ownership.
You should have:
· Previous experience as a Buyer, Junior Buyer, Assistant Buyer or similar retail/commercial role.
· Experience managing purchasing from planning through to delivery.
· Strong forecasting, sales analysis and stock planning skills.
· Good commercial understanding of pricing, margin and stock risk.
· Strong Excel/spreadsheet and reporting skills.
· Experience negotiating and managing suppliers.
· Excellent organisation and attention to detail.
· The ability to turn sales and stock data into clear commercial actions.
· Confidence working independently and making purchasing recommendations.
Experience in seasonal retail, e-commerce, marketplaces and/or overseas sourcing would be particularly valuable.
What Success Looks Like
Success means having the right products, in the right quantities, at the right price, at the right time.
You'll help maximise sales by maintaining availability on successful products while controlling stock exposure, improving purchasing decisions and protecting margin.
Ultimately, we're looking for someone who can bring commercial judgement, structure and forward planning to our buying operation.
