Our successful hire will work closely with an experienced Partner who specialises in delivering complex life science projects across the region. Based at our head office in Cambridge, you'll gain exposure to a diverse portfolio of high-profile laboratory, refurbishment and commercial projects within one of the UK's most innovative science and technology markets.

What you’ll be doing
You’ll gain exposure to the full breadth of commercial building surveying, developing technical expertise while building trusted relationships with some of the UK’s most prestigious landlords, occupiers and institutional clients.
Your workload will have a particular emphasis on project delivery and contract administration, acting as Employer’s Agent or Contract Administrator on refurbishment, alteration and fit-out projects ranging from small complex works to multi-million-pound schemes.

Other leading science, technology and commercial assets throughout Cambridge and the wider Golden Triangle.
Some key duties of the role include:

Supporting the delivery of client projects, providing regular progress updates to clients and colleagues

Supporting the Commercial Building Surveying team in delivering a wide range of professional building surveying services, to include design and specification, Dilapidations, Party Wall and Pre-acquisition advice

Undertaking building inspections, surveys and preparing technical reports to provide meaningful client advice

Developing and maintaining strong relationships with clients, property professionals and internal teams

Supporting the management of project timelines and ensuring work is delivered to agreed deadlines and quality standards

Keeping up to date with building surveying legislation, industry standards, best practice and AI
What you'll achieve
As a Graduate Building Surveyor, you'll gain hands-on experience across a broad range of building surveying projects while working alongside experienced professionals. You'll develop your technical expertise, build client relationships, contribute to project delivery, undertake inspections and report writing and work towards achieving RICS Chartered status.
You'll have the opportunity to grow alongside us, and we're committed to supporting your progress every step of the way. We'll provide extensive assistance and tailored support to help you work towards your RICS APC, where our strong first-time pass rate speaks for itself.
You'll also join our two-year graduate development program, designed to enhance your personal effectiveness, commercial and financial acumen, and client delivery skills. This program will help you build a robust foundation for a successful career in the property sector, taking you beyond your current technical expertise.
About you
Essential
-
A relevant and RICS accredited qualification in Building Surveying or equivalent, along with eligibility to APC Building Surveying pathway

Awareness and understanding of issues affecting the economy and the implications on the Firm and specifically, Building Surveying

Strong IT skills, with confidence using Microsoft Office applications

Client care skills – good interpersonal communication both verbal and written

An interest in business development and building client relationships

Attention to detail

Team player
-
Full UK Driving License and access to a vehicle
Desirable

Some relevant experience in Building Surveying, ideally having started the APC

Understanding of turnover/income, profit and gross margin
