Full job description

We're looking for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Plant Area Assistant to join our busy and friendly team at Tenterden Garden Centre on a part-time basis.

This is a hands-on role within our plant area, helping customers find the right plants for their gardens while ensuring our plant displays remain healthy, attractive, and well-maintained.

Plant knowledge and husbandry experience are essential. Previous garden centre or horticultural retail experience is preferred.

Please note this role is physically demanding and involves working outdoors throughout the year in all weather conditions. Weekend and Bank Holiday working will be required. Minimum of 24 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities:

Providing expert advice and excellent customer service
Maintaining high standards of plant care, including watering, feeding and stock maintenance
Monitoring plant health and presentation standards
Creating attractive and inspirational plant displays
Assisting with stock replenishment and merchandising
Maintaining a clean, tidy and safe plant area
Supporting the wider team with day-to-day garden centre operations

What We're Looking For:

Strong plant knowledge and practical plant care experience
A passion for horticulture and gardening
Excellent communication and customer service skills
A positive, reliable and hardworking attitude
Good attention to detail and high standards of presentation
Previous garden retail experience is desirable
