Roles are either ‘site based’ or ‘home based’.
Site based roles are mainly based at the workplace, with the option to work from home for up to two days a week, depending on service needs.
Home based roles are mainly based at home, with the expectation of attending the workplace up to one day a week.
The working arrangement for each role is set by the manager, based on service requirements.

We’re recruiting an Identity and Access Administrator to join our ICT team at Milton Keynes City Council.
You’ll be part of a dedicated team focused on protecting our systems, data and colleagues by ensuring secure and reliable access across the organisation. You’ll play a key role in managing how colleagues access systems, helping us keep services safe and resilient for our communities.
The ICT service supports every part of the council, and your work will directly enable colleagues to deliver vital services to residents every day. You’ll help strengthen our security approach by making sure the right people have the right access at the right time.
This is a rewarding role where your expertise helps protect sensitive information and supports the smooth running of council services.
This role may be suitable for home working, following an assessment. Home‑based roles require a minimum of one day per week working from the office or site.

Role Responsibilities
- Manage the full identity lifecycle using Microsoft Entra ID, including user access, group membership and permissions.

Design, maintain and review conditional access and security policies to protect council systems.

Administer Microsoft Intune to support secure and compliant devices across the organisation.

Monitor and respond to security alerts, working with colleagues to investigate and resolve incidents.

Configure data protection controls to ensure sensitive information is shared safely and appropriately.

Produce clear reports and recommendations to help improve the council’s security posture.
Ideal Candidate
- You bring experience in identity and access management, with a strong understanding of how to manage user access securely.

Your ability to work with Microsoft security tools helps you support and protect systems effectively.

Experience in monitoring and responding to security risks allows you to act quickly and confidently when needed.

A strong understanding of data protection and compliance helps you safeguard sensitive information.

Confidence when working with colleagues enables you to explain technical issues in a clear and supportive way.

Proven skills in problem solving help you investigate issues and identify practical solutions.
