About the role
The Marketing and Events Coordinator will play a key role in raising the profile of Blyth Tall Ship and engaging a wide range of audiences through creative marketing, digital communications and community events.
This is a hands-on role focused on developing engaging marketing campaigns, maintaining our website, creating compelling social media content and promoting the wide range of activities delivered by Blyth Tall Ship. The successful candidate will also lead on the planning, promotion and delivery of community engagement events and support the organisation and marketing of our seasonal sailing programme.
Working closely with colleagues, volunteers and external partners, the Marketing and Events Coordinator will ensure Blyth Tall Ship has a consistent, professional and engaging presence across all communications while helping to grow awareness, participation and support for our charity.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and deliver an annual marketing and communications plan that supports Blyth Tall Ship's strategic objectives.
- Lead on the creation and scheduling of engaging content across social media platforms, including photography, video, graphics and written copy.
- Design and produce marketing materials using Canva and other design software, ensuring consistency with the Blyth Tall Ship brand.
- Plan and deliver email marketing campaigns and audience communications via Mailchimp.
- Monitor marketing performance using analytics and provide regular reports with recommendations for improvement.
- Build relationships with local media, community organisations and partners to maximise promotional opportunities.
- Lead the planning, coordination and promotion of community engagement events, open days, exhibitions and public activities.
- Coordinate the promotion and delivery of Blyth Tall Ship's seasonal sailing programme, working with operational colleagues to maximise participation and customer experience.
- Support fundraising campaigns and partnership activity through effective marketing and communications.
- Ensure branding and messaging remain consistent across all digital and printed communications.
- Maintain marketing assets, image libraries and promotional materials.
- Work with staff and volunteers to capture stories, photographs and video content that showcase the impact of Blyth Tall Ship.
- Undertake other marketing, communications and events duties appropriate to the role.
Person Specification
Essential
- Experience in a marketing, communications or events role.
- Excellent written communication skills with the ability to produce engaging copy for different audiences.
- Experience updating websites using a content management system.
- Strong experience managing social media platforms and creating digital content.
- Experience designing marketing materials using Canva or similar software.
- Experience planning and delivering public or community events.
- Excellent organisational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with a range of stakeholders.
- Experience using marketing analytics and reporting tools.
- A creative approach with excellent attention to detail.
Desirable
- Experience within the charity, heritage, tourism or cultural sectors.
- Photography, videography or video editing skills.
- Experience using Mailchimp or similar email marketing platforms.
- Understanding of community engagement and audience development.
- Experience working with volunteers.
- Knowledge of fundraising communications or sponsorship promotion.

Pay: £25,500.00-£28,200.00 per year
