Overview

Starfish & Coffee is a multi-award winning cafe based by beautiful Queens Park, just a 15 minute walk from Brighton Pavilion.

We have won more Brighton Restaurant Awards than any other establishment in the city, Time Out declared us the "Number 1 Brunch Spot in Brighton & Hove" and we have a 4.8 rating on Google with over 1,500 reviews.

We are looking for a new Head Barista to run all of our drinks operations to include speciality coffee, other hot drinks including matcha, soft drinks & cocktails.

Exceptional latte art is essential, but the successful applicant will have so much more about them, which we invite you to tell us about within your application.

Key Responsibilities

Brew speciality coffee to the highest standard.
Lead, mentor, and train the FoH team.
Manage ordering, stock control, and supplier relations.
Ensure daily cleanliness, food safety, and equipment maintenance.
Create seasonal coffee menus and latte art standards.
Deliver friendly, welcoming service to all customers.

Requirements

Proven experience as a Head Barista or Senior Barista working with speciality coffee.
Strong knowledge of coffee extraction, grinders, and latte art.
Excellent leadership and team management skills.
Passion for speciality coffee and customer service.
Right to work in the UK.

The hourly rate is £13.30-13.80ph, plus service charge which can amount to £3-£5 per hour worked depending on the time of year and daily cash tips.

The guaranteed hours are 8.15am-3.45pm Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday & Sunday, plus bank holidays & holiday cover.
