Who we are
Upperdog is a digital agency based in the centre of Bournemouth. We are a growing team of digital specialists who live by our motto: work hard and be nice to people. We design and build high-performing websites and take pride in creating great client experiences from the very first conversation right through to delivery and ongoing support.
As we continue to grow, we are investing in senior technical leadership to strengthen our capability, evolve our offering, and ensure we remain confident and forward-thinking in the solutions we deliver to clients.
About the role
As a Quality Assurance Tester at Upperdog, you will take ownership of quality assurance across the websites, digital platforms and technical work we deliver for clients.
This is not simply an end-of-project testing role. You will:
- Be involved throughout the production lifecycle, identifying potential issues before they become production problems.
- Create and execute structured test plans based on project requirements, technical specifications and acceptance criteria.
- Carry out functional, regression, responsive and cross-browser testing across our digital work.
- Investigate, reproduce and clearly document technical issues to support efficient resolution.
- Take ownership of pre-launch QA and help ensure work is ready to move confidently into production.
- Help develop and improve our QA processes, documentation and tooling as our technical capability grows.
- You will work closely with developers, designers, project managers, account managers and digital marketing specialists, acting as a trusted voice for quality and helping the whole team deliver better work.
About you
You’ll thrive in this role if you:
- Have experience working in QA, software testing, website testing or a digital production environment.
- Have a strong understanding of how websites work and are comfortable investigating issues beyond simply identifying that something is broken.
- Are methodical and detail-oriented, with a natural tendency to question whether something works as it should.
- Understand the importance of testing against requirements, acceptance criteria, designs and the original client brief.
- Are comfortable using browser developer tools to investigate technical issues and provide useful information to developers.
- Can clearly document bugs, including steps to reproduce, expected behaviour and actual behaviour.
- Are comfortable working across multiple projects and managing competing priorities in a fast-paced agency environment.
- Approach QA collaboratively, recognising that quality is a shared responsibility across the production team.
- Communicate technical issues clearly and confidently to both technical and non-technical colleagues.
- Are proactive and comfortable challenging requirements or highlighting potential issues early.
- Have a genuine interest in digital technology and enjoy understanding how things work.

- Perform regression testing following development changes, bug fixes and content updates.
- Test websites across major browsers, operating systems, screen sizes and devices.
- Test responsive behaviour across desktop, tablet and mobile experiences.
- Check website functionality against designs and agreed specifications, identifying visual and interaction inconsistencies.

- Bug Management & Technical Investigation
- Identify, reproduce and document bugs clearly, providing developers with enough information to investigate and resolve issues efficiently.
- Prioritise issues based on severity, user impact, risk and project deadlines.
- Retest fixes and confirm that resolving one issue has not introduced another.
- Use browser developer tools, console logs, network requests and other technical tools to investigate problems.
- Work closely with developers to understand the cause of issues and improve the quality of fixes.
- Maintain clear QA records and ensure outstanding issues are communicated to relevant project teams.
- Identify recurring issues and recommend improvements to development and production processes.
Process & QA Improvement
- Help establish and maintain consistent QA processes across the Technical Production team.
- Develop reusable test plans, checklists and QA documentation for different types of projects.
- Help improve our pre-launch and post-launch quality control processes.

- Contribute to the development of automated testing and QA tooling as the team’s technical capabilities grow.
- Help establish sensible QA standards across websites, tracking, integrations and technical production.
- Share knowledge with developers and wider production teams to improve quality across the agency.
Skills & experience
- 2+ years’ experience in QA, software testing, website testing, digital production or a similar role.
