About the Role
30 hours per week

Fixed Term until 31st March 2028.

We are seeking to appoint a qualified, experienced and enthusiastic Practice Educator to join our Social Work Practice Education Team within Workforce Development. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about developing the next generation of social workers and supporting the ongoing professional development of qualified practitioners.

Applicants must be registered with Social Care Wales or be willing to register.

Working with students from a diverse range of backgrounds and with varying learning and support needs, you will play a key role in supporting, mentoring and assessing social work students undertaking their first, second and third year Practice Learning Opportunities (PLOs) across Wrexham County Borough Council's Social Care Services and partner Third Sector organisations.

The role will involve undertaking off-site practice assessments, including:
Providing regular supervision and support to students.

Conducting direct observations of practice.

Liaising effectively with onsite mentors, managers and university tutors.
Assessing students' written work and professional development.
Completing Practice Educator reports at the end of each placement.

The successful candidate will have experience of managing complex situations, working collaboratively with a range of partners, and making sound professional judgements. An excellent understanding of the National Occupational Standards, together with a commitment to the Codes of Professional Practice, is essential.

In addition, you will contribute to the quality assurance of social work education and workforce development by:
Participating in Practice Assessment Panels.

Reviewing and assessing student portfolios.

Assessing post-qualifying awards, including the Practice Educator Award and Consolidation Award programmes.
Supporting the ongoing development of high-quality practice learning opportunities across the sector.

This post is funded through the Social Care Wales Workforce Development Programme (SCWWDP) Grant and the Practice Learning Opportunities Fund (PLOF), which support training, learning and qualifications across the social care sector in Wrexham.

The Workforce Development Team forms part of the Human Resources and Organisational Development (HR&OD) Service within the Chief Executive's Department and is committed to supporting a skilled, confident and resilient social care workforce.

Internal secondment opportunity will be considered depending on service requirements.
