Full job description

· Contract Type: Freelance.

14th September 2026-26th March 2027.

· Hours of Work: 2 hours teaching + a biweekly meeting with the Programme Manager. Preparation time and administration is included as part of the contract.

· Delivery will not take place between 26th October- 30th October, 14th December-4th January and 15th February-20th February 2027.

· Total contract- £3,375 (based on a daily rate of £135) over 25 weeks. Monthly invoice to be submitted in arrears.

· Special Requirements: Female only applicants (Equality Act 2010, Schedule 9 Part 1). Enhanced DBS required.

· This post may be extended with further opportunities for additional hours subject to further funding.

About Beyond the Page Ltd

Beyond the Page (BtP) is a small but dynamic organisation working to build confident, connected communities through inclusive language learning. Our flagship programme, United Mothers, provides free, women-only ESOL sessions in local community settings across Thanet. These sessions are shaped around confidence, connection, and community, and support minority ethnic women in their personal journeys and participation in public life.

BtP delivers participatory and creative ESOL, advocacy, social and wellbeing activities, and research collaborations that remove barriers, reduce isolation, and increase women's skills and confidence. BtP takes a trauma-informed, relational approach to community-based ESOL that reflects the lived experiences of the women it supports.

Main Purpose of the Role

To plan, deliver and evaluate in-person English language group sessions as part of the United Mothers programme delivered in Thanet. The role supports migrant women to build language confidence, connect to each other and their communities, and engage with services, other groups in the Thanet community, and opportunities.

Main DutiesESOL Facilitation

· Plan, prepare, and deliver a weekly inclusive ESOL session tailored to the needs of women with varied literacy levels, learning goals, and life experiences

· Support Digital Skills development and digital confidence within sessions

· Incorporate Literacy development goals and build in gentle progression routes

· Work collaboratively with the Peer and Engagement Coordinator to promote advocacy and signposting into learning, supporting women to access services and feel confident in their rights

Trauma-Informed, Participant-Led Practice

· Create and maintain safe, inclusive spaces that reflect BtP’s values and trauma-informed approach

· Use participatory methods that centre women's voices and choice in the learning journey

· Adapt delivery in response to participant feedback, lived experience, and identified priorities

Planning and Evaluation

· Plan learning aligned with women’s goals and organisational priorities

· Contribute to feedback loops and impact reporting through reflection, records, and participant feedback

· Support co-design and consultation activities to improve ESOL practice effectiveness

Collaboration & Community Development

· Work closely with the Programme Manager to ensure consistent delivery across sessions

· Collaborate on community events, celebrations, and seasonal activities with United Mothers groups

· Support the development of supported volunteering by creating a welcoming environment for classroom volunteers and contributing to their learning and inclusion

· Attend internal meetings, CPD and peer learning sessions as required

· Help identify outreach opportunities and support local engagement and partnerships.

Pay: £135.00 per day
