Full job description

Contracts Manager

Wynne Construction is seeking an experienced Contracts Manager to join our team, overseeing the successful delivery of construction projects across Wales and the North West of England. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced construction professional to take responsibility for multiple projects, ensuring they are delivered safely, efficiently, on programme and within budget.

The Role - Contracts Manager

As Contracts Manager, you will take overall responsibility for the management and control of contracts from pre-start through to completion. You will work closely with Site Managers, Quantity Surveyors, clients, subcontractors and the wider project team to ensure projects meet the required standards for health and safety, quality, programme and commercial performance.

You will also act as a key point of contact for clients and stakeholders while providing leadership, support and direction to site teams.

Key responsibilities include:

· Planning projects and ensuring programmes provide the level of detail required for site teams to deliver works effectively and without unnecessary delays

· Attending tender handover meetings and delivering pre-start meetings to project teams

· Monitoring project progress, budgets, resources and forward planning, ensuring appropriate lookahead programmes are maintained

· Ensuring procurement and reconciliation of materials is undertaken in accordance with Company procedures and represents best value

· Ensuring project teams comply with Company commercial policies and procedures

· Ensuring commercial plans and end-of-life forecasts are established and reviewed monthly to support successful project delivery

· Producing and analysing progress reports and working closely with the Project Quantity Surveyor on commercial performance

· Ensuring the appropriate commercial engagement and management of subcontractors

· Reviewing monthly CVRs with project teams and implementing any necessary actions

· Implementing the risk management process, including reviewing risk registers and ensuring appropriate controls are in place

· Chairing and attending internal and external project meetings and ensuring accurate records of discussions, decisions and actions are maintained

· Managing both temporary and permanent design requirements to ensure they are delivered in line with project programmes

· Setting high standards of leadership in relation to health, safety and environmental procedures and best practice

· Ensuring construction sites and subcontractors comply with Wynne Construction procedures, processes and relevant legal requirements

· Working alongside the HSEQ Manager to ensure site documentation remains up to date and completing senior management site inspections

· Liaising with clients, regulatory bodies and other third parties where required

· Supporting project teams in delivering social value commitments and initiatives

What We're Looking For

· Extensive experience managing construction projects within a main contracting environment

· Strong working knowledge of contract conditions, CDM Regulations, design management, programming and risk management

· Good commercial understanding, including cost control, forecasting, actual cost and value reporting

· Experience using Microsoft Project

· HNC, HND, Degree level qualification or equivalent in a relevant construction discipline

· Current SMSTS qualification

· Temporary Works Coordinator qualification

· Appropriate CSCS card

· Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to influence, support and mentor project teams

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with clients, subcontractors and colleagues at all levels

· Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

· Good IT skills

While not essential, the following are desirable:

· Knowledge and experience of NEC contracts, including Early Warning and Compensation Event mechanisms

· Experience delivering projects across a range of sectors

· Membership of, or working towards membership of, a relevant professional body
