Trainee Passive Fire Estimator

Salary: £27,000 - £32,000 per year (depending on experience)
About Us
We are a growing passive fire protection contractor specialising in fire stopping, fire boarding, structural steel fire protection, compartmentation surveys and remedial works across the UK. Due to continued growth, we are looking to recruit a Trainee Passive Fire Estimator to join our commercial team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to start a career in construction estimating. No previous estimating experience is required as full training will be provided.
The Role
As a Trainee Passive Fire Estimator, you'll work alongside experienced estimators to learn how to prepare quotations and cost estimates for passive fire protection projects. You'll gain experience reviewing drawings, specifications and tender documents while developing a strong understanding of passive fire systems and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with preparing quotations for passive fire protection projects.
- Measure works from drawings and specifications.
- Review tender documents and identify the scope of works.
- Learn to price fire stopping, fire boarding, cavity barriers and structural steel fire protection.
- Liaise with project managers, suppliers and clients.
- Obtain material prices and subcontractor quotations.
- Assist with cost planning and commercial reporting.
- Maintain accurate estimating records and documentation.
- Support the commercial team with day-to-day estimating duties.
What We're Looking For
- Strong maths and English skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel.
- A willingness to learn and develop.
- Good communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Construction experience is beneficial but not essential.
- Estimating experience is advantageous but full training will be provided.
