Full job description

Are you looking to start a rewarding career in the structural steel industry? We're looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Trainee Estimator to join our growing team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is keen to learn, develop new skills, and build a long-term career within a well-established structural steel company. Full training will be provided, with support from experienced estimators and industry professionals.

About the Role

As a Trainee Estimator, you'll learn how to prepare accurate cost estimates for structural steel projects, working closely with our estimating, design, and project teams. You'll gain hands-on experience interpreting drawings, reviewing project specifications, and assisting in the preparation of competitive quotations.

Key Responsibilities

Assisting with the preparation of estimates and quotations for structural steel projects.
Reviewing architectural and engineering drawings.
Performing quantity take-offs and material calculations.
Liaising with suppliers to obtain material and subcontractor pricing.
Supporting the estimating team with tender submissions.
Maintaining accurate project and pricing records.
Learning industry standards, fabrication processes, and construction methods.

About You

We're looking for someone who is/has:

Eager to learn and develop a career in estimating.
Numerate with good attention to detail.
Organised and able to manage multiple tasks.
A confident communicator with good IT skills.
Able to work both independently and as part of a team.
GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths at C/4 or above.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
Previous experience in construction, engineering, manufacturing, or reading technical drawings is beneficial but not essential.
