Full job description

Quality Assurance Technologist

Location: Plympton, Plymouth, Devon

Department: Technical

Reports to: QA Manager

Full Time - 40hrs (Monday to Friday (7:30am - 4pm) Maternity cover until February 2027.

Key Responsibilities:

Carry out routine quality and food safety checks, audits, and inspections in line with site procedures.
Monitor temperatures, calibrate equipment, and manage QA systems and records.
Complete goods intake, label verification, and finished product quality checks during production.
Prepare samples, manage microbiological testing, and investigate out-of-spec results.
Maintain traceability, shelf life, mass balance, and product validation activities.
Raise and follow up non-conformances, support customer complaints and audits.

Deliver QA and food safety training and promote a strong food safety and quality culture.

Skills

Previous experience in a QA / Technical role within a food manufacturing environment desirable but not essential.
Understanding of HACCP, GMP, food safety, and quality systems, desirable.
Good attention to detail with strong record-keeping skills.
Able to work independently and as part of a team.
Effective communicator with the confidence to challenge standards where required.
Flexible and willing to support the department as business needs demand).
