Full job description

Job Title: Buying Assistant
Working Hours: 7.30am – 17.45pm, Monday to Thursday
Location: Hull, Leads Road Site
Salary: £28,000 per annum

Job Overview

We are looking for a motivated and organised Buying Assistant to support our Purchasing team with day-to-day procurement activities. This is an excellent opportunity for a school leaver or someone at the beginning of their career who is eager to learn and develop within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

Chase overdue purchase orders and maintain supplier delivery schedules.
Forecast material requirements and communicate demand to suppliers.
Analyse Kanban reports to support material planning.
Reconcile supplier invoice queries and resolve discrepancies.
Assist the production team with supplier-related issues to minimise disruption.
Maintain accurate purchasing records and support the wider Purchasing team with administrative tasks.
Build positive working relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.

Knowledge and Skills

Essential

Confident using Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to speak directly with suppliers.
Well organised with excellent timekeeping and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and ambition to develop a career in purchasing.
Able to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Desirable

Previous purchasing experience is not essential; school leavers and candidates with transferable skills are encouraged to apply.

Package

£28,000 per annum
Working Hours: Monday to Thursday: 07.30am – 17.45pm
