We are looking for a Despatch Team Leader to join our Leeds Regional Distribution Centre and take responsibility for leading the daily despatch operation, ensuring customer and branch orders are picked, packed and despatched accurately, efficiently and on time.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced warehouse professional to lead a team in a fast-paced distribution environment and play a key role in delivering excellent customer service throughout our supply chain.
The Role
As a Despatch Team Leader, you will be responsible for supervising the daily despatch operation, ensuring that parcels and pallet consignments are processed accurately, safely and within required timescales.
Working closely with the RDC Warehouse Manager, administration team and warehouse colleagues, you will support operational efficiency, drive performance standards and promote a safe and positive working environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supervising daily picking, packing and despatch activities for parcel and pallet carrier services.
- Ensuring customer and branch orders are processed accurately and within agreed deadlines.
- Monitoring workflow, productivity and team performance to achieve operational targets.
- Supporting the day-to-day management and development of despatch team members.
- Liaising with the RDC administration team regarding carrier bookings, despatch planning and operational priorities.
- Investigating and resolving despatch issues, delays and stock discrepancies.
- Promoting and maintaining high standards of health and safety throughout the warehouse operation.
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Providing operational information and performance feedback to the RDC Warehouse Manager.
This is a hands-on leadership role that contributes directly to service reliability, operational performance and customer satisfaction.
What We Are Looking For
- Previous experience within a warehouse, distribution, logistics or despatch environment.
- Experience supervising or leading operational teams.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and people management skills.
- Good attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- A proactive and solution-focused approach.
- Understanding of warehouse systems and stock control processes.
- Knowledge of health and safety requirements within a warehouse environment.
- Strong computer literacy and ability to work with warehouse management systems.
