Full job description

Barry’s Home Bakery – Gateshead
Approx. 6-8 hours per week | Flexible working pattern
£15 per hour

We’re looking for an experienced and organised Accounts & Administration Assistant to provide around 8 hours of support each week.

We can be flexible about how these hours are worked. They could be completed in one day or split across the week to suit the right person.

This could be an ideal role for someone looking for a small, regular part-time position alongside other work or commitments.

Experience using QuickBooks would be a strong advantage.

The role

You’ll take responsibility for keeping our routine accounts administration organised and up to date, including:

Raising and processing customer invoices
Allocating and reconciling customer payments
Maintaining accurate records in QuickBooks
Checking and processing supplier invoices
Following up outstanding accounts and payment queries
Investigating payment or invoice discrepancies
Maintaining customer and supplier records
Supporting payroll and timesheet administration
Producing basic spreadsheets and reports
Managing routine emails and paperwork
Liaising with our accountant where required
Providing general administrative support to the business

About you

We’re looking for someone who has previous experience in administration, accounts administration, bookkeeping or a similar role.

You should be:

Confident using QuickBooks or similar accounting software
Comfortable dealing with invoices, payments and reconciliations
Confident using Excel, Outlook and Microsoft Office
Accurate and organised
Able to work independently and manage your own workload
Comfortable dealing with customers and suppliers
Reliable and happy working in a busy small-business environment

We're not looking for a qualified accountant. We need someone who is good with numbers, understands basic accounts administration and can take ownership of keeping things organised.
