A level 3 Forest School qualification is essential for this role.

Under the direction of the Enrichment Lead, you will plan, organise and deliver the Forest School programme for children from Reception to Year 6 including some SEN sessions.

General duties relevant to all members of staff:

To promote the mission, vision and aims of Lady Boswell’s School to ensure that each child achieves their full potential. It is expected that all staff work collaboratively to share good practice, resources and ideas and realise the school vision and aims. All staff should act with professional integrity at all times, following the school ‘Code of Conduct for Staff’ and make full use of, and contribute positively to, their own appraisal.

To work within the general aims and of the school and to contribute towards

the overall Christian ethos of the school, paying due attention and regard to

the policies.

Key duties and responsibilities:

To run the school’s Forest School programme in line with Forest School principles and the school’s curriculum objectives
Work within the parameters given by the Co-Headteachers, Senior Leadership Team and Enrichment Lead.
To understand and have a love of the outdoors especially the woodland and to be keen to learn more.
Set up for each Forest School session, and clear the site after.
To support the development of practical outdoor skills, including tool use, shelter building, fire safety and environmental awareness.
To maintain the site to high H & S standards and to report any issues to the line manager and site manager
Follow all safety procedures and risk assessments to keep children safe.
Follow routines, boundaries and rules to ensure the safety and good behaviour of the children. Promote positive behaviour.
To enjoy working with children and to be a positive role model.
To manage the resources/food planning and ordering, ensuring you keep within the forest school budget
Understand the child-initiated nature of Forest school and work within this to resource it appropriately and offer a high level of challenge.
To adapt activities to meet the individual needs, interests and abilities of all pupils, including those with additional needs
Encourage respect for nature and sustainable use of outdoor spaces
To liaise with other staff regarding the needs of individuals. To share information and feed back to staff when appropriate.
To ensure the programme or activity shows progression of skills
To regularly check and maintain all equipment as necessary.
To comply with health and safety regulations, school policies and Forest School standards.
To follow safeguarding procedures and report any concerns in accordance with school policy.
To help with keeping records of participants’ emergency contact details, permission forms and medical needs.
To help, as required, with monitoring children’s responses to learning activities through observation and by providing objective and accurate feedback on child achievement and progress.
Engage with continuous professional development and to keep any qualifications up to date.
Work with a wide of range of people including other school staff, groundsmen and our caretaker.

Physical Demands

The work requires moderate levels of physical effort. It involves lifting and handling of equipment and other resources. The role is almost exclusively out of doors and will require working on uneven surfaces and in unpredictable weather conditions.
