GIAA expects employees to maintain a regular presence at their contractual designated work location and to travel to other GIAA locations or client sites as required for critical meetings and field assignments. Job description

As Digital, Data and Technology, Senior Internal Auditor, you will be a key player in delivering high-quality audit services aligned with the Global Internal Audit Standards (GIAS) in the UK Public Sector or other relevant professional standards. You will act as a crucial point of contact for clients, delivering a portfolio of audits and working closely with stakeholders to deliver efficient and robust audit work that strengthens the Agency's client relationships and reputation.

This role requires a confident, experienced auditor who will actively contribute to audit delivery and the annual opinion, delivering medium-risk engagements, dependent upon the complexity of the audit as determined through our audit planning process, in line with quality, time, and budget requirements.

You will foster a culture of continuous improvement, use agency innovation, and learning to ensure audit services remain responsive to emerging risks and priorities. This includes helping to build capability and drive excellence in audit delivery

Role responsibilities

Assisting the DDaT audit specialism to produce value-adding insights which enable GIAAs clients to identify and effectively manage their IT risks.
Recognising common issues arising from DDaT assurance and advisory activity and sharing these across GIAAs client base to facilitate improved risk awareness and mitigation.
Using knowledge sharing tools and products to enable upskilling and consistent delivery of DDaT assurance activity across GIAA, including by colleagues who do not currently sit within the DDaT specialism.
Deliver and support multiple internal audit assignments across a diverse portfolio of clients, ensuring compliance with audit methodology and quality standards.
Lead audit engagements from planning through completion, managing priorities, resources, budgets, and timelines effectively.
Identify, assess, and communicate key business, operational, and fraud risks, focusing audit activity on critical areas of concern.
Evaluate governance, risk management, and control frameworks, providing practical recommendations to strengthen organisational performance.
Analyse and interpret data from a range of sources using manual and automated techniques to support audit findings and recommendations.
Prepare audit plans, terms of reference, testing strategies, and detailed reports, presenting findings clearly to stakeholders and monitoring management actions.
Build effective relationships with stakeholders, influencing decision-makers through evidence-based insights while supporting and overseeing team members as required.

Person specification

1. A strong, analytical thinker and problem solver who can plan requirements within tight deadlines and under minimal supervision.

2. Significant experience of risk-based DDaT Internal Audit, including:

experience of collecting and providing accurate, unbiased, relevant, and sufficient information to support DDaT conclusions,
experienced in leading DDaT audit engagements,
confidence in evaluating complex systems and processes, including working & communicating effectively with all levels of the organisation and stakeholders, and
being able to use IA software & standard IT products.

3. Experienced in managing competing, challenging workloads & meeting deadlines.
