Full job description

We are a long-standing family business, and we are looking for a friendly, reliable and motivated person to join our growing team in Banbury as a Transport Planner.

This is a great opportunity for someone with experience in transport or logistics who enjoys working in a busy, fast-paced environment and wants to be part of a supportive team.

As a Transport Planner, you will help make sure freight is moved efficiently across Oxfordshire. You will be involved in planning routes, supporting drivers, communicating with customers and making sure we provide a high level of service each day.

You will need to consider schedules, costs, health and safety, vehicle sizes and weights, driver hours and customer requirements.

Working Hours

This role works on a weekly shift rotation, Monday to Friday:

Week 1: 05:00 – 14:00
Week 2: 12:00 – 21:00

There will also be 1 Saturday morning per month, which is paid extra.

Salary starts at £33,000 per annum

The Role

Your duties will include:

Planning and managing our local fleet for palletised freight deliveries and collections
Planning work in the most efficient and cost-effective way
Using our IT systems for planning, tracking and transport information
Helping to maintain a high level of customer service
Communicating with drivers, office staff and warehouse teams
Speaking with customers and keeping them updated
Supporting the day-to-day running of a busy transport office

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

Has good communication skills
Has a background in haulage, transport or logistics
Is confident using IT systems
Has strong geographical knowledge of the UK
Is reliable, punctual and well organised
Can work independently and make decisions
Enjoys working in a busy office environment
Has at least 2 years’ experience in a transport environment, although this would be beneficial rather than essential

This role would suit someone who enjoys problem solving, working with people and being part of a busy transport operation where no two days are the same.

Pay: From £33,000.00 per year

Work Location: In person
