Full job description

Job Overview

Tidal Transit is entering a major growth phase, this newly created role will provide the organisation with professional HR capability to support our increasing workforce. We currently have 80 employed and self employed team members with a forecasted increase of at least another 24 over the next three years. The HR Business Partner will lead on HR case management, employee relations, welfare and compliance, while also coordinating recruitment activity and supporting the development of the Tidal Transit Academy pipeline.

We are seeking a dynamic and strategic HR Business Partner to drive impactful human resources initiatives across our organisation. In this role, you will serve as a trusted advisor to leadership and employees alike, fostering a positive workplace culture, aligning HR strategies with business goals, and ensuring the effective delivery of HR services. Your energetic approach and strong communication skills will help us attract, develop, and retain top talent while promoting a collaborative and inclusive environment. This position offers an exciting opportunity to influence organizational success through innovative HR solutions and data-driven decision-making.

Responsibilities

Collaborate closely with business leaders to understand their objectives and develop tailored HR strategies that support growth and operational excellence.
Provide expert guidance on human resources policies, employment laws, and best practices to ensure compliance and mitigate risks.
Manage sensitive HR matters including conduct, performance, welfare concerns, grievances, and investigations.
Support talent acquisition efforts by managing applicant tracking systems, streamlining recruitment processes, and enhancing candidate experience.
Manage screening, reference checks, offers, and onboarding documentation and process.
Drive employee engagement initiatives by facilitating communication channels, conducting surveys, and implementing programs that promote a positive work environment.
Maintain accurate HR records, generate reports on key metrics like turnover rates or headcount trends, and leverage data analysis skills to identify opportunities for improvement.
Ensure HR processes align with maritime regulations, company policies, and client requirements.
Manage visa documentation and right‑to‑work checks for non‑UK crew.
Track visa expiry dates and ensure timely renewal of required documentation.
Coordinate with external immigration advisors when specialist guidance is needed.
Provide managers with clarity on any working restrictions linked to visa conditions.

Experience

CIPD Level 5 (or equivalent professional HR qualification) strongly preferred.
Proven experience as an HR Business Partner or in a similar human resources role with a focus on strategic partnership.
Strong data analysis skills with the ability to interpret complex workforce data to support decision-making.
Hands-on experience working with HRIS platforms, We are currently using Bright HR
Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly convey HR policies and initiatives across all levels of the organisation.
Familiarity with applicant tracking systems (ATS) and talent management tools to optimise recruitment processes.
Knowledge of employment laws and regulations relevant to human resources practices in diverse geographic locations is preferred.
