Full job description

Full Time Practice Manager

Required: *July 2026*

Western Design Architects is a busy Architectural practice based in Tarrant Hinton, just outside Blandford Forum, Dorset. We specialise in residential architecture across the south of the UK but also work in other sectors including Heritage, Education, Retail, Commercial and Agriculture.

We are looking for an experienced and highly organised Practice Manager to become a key part of our team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who can hit the ground running and take ownership of the office function

You will work closely with the company directors and play a vital role in the day-to-day running of the business.

Applicants will be pro-active and must demonstrate excellent grammatical and organisational skills and be able to demonstrate IT proficiency in ‘Microsoft Excel and Word’.

The Applicant must have initiative to work under minimum supervision, with a positive, and flexible attitude required to carry out the following tasks:

- Office Administration

- Support to Directors and Architectural team

- Implementation & maintenance of office systems

- General accounts including compilation of information for monthly payroll, end of year accounts and hold monthly meetings for the Directors with cash flow data

- Maintaining company pension and health schemes

- Renewal of insurances

- Reconciling Client Payments

- Credit Control / Management of Aged Debt

- Payment of Supplier Invoices

- Accurately record annual leave & sickness

- Dealing with HR / Personnel matters and recruitment

- Annual reviews of staff policies and procedures

- Health & Safety within the workplace, i.e. risk assessments, become the fire competent person, ensure first aiders training is in date

- Oversee timesheet recording

- Project Invoicing

- Organising In-house training

- Deputising in the Practice Administrators absence

- Maintenance of database including accurate recording of client fees and project information

- Keeping the presentation of the office to a high standard
