Café Cook – Seabank House Café Bar
About the role
Seabank House Café Bar is looking for an enthusiastic and reliable Café Cook to join our friendly kitchen team.
This is a varied, hands-on role preparing light breakfasts, fresh light lunches for our café, with the opportunity to make homemade scones, cakes and traybakes for our counter. You’ll also help with guest breakfasts during the busy season and have input into new dishes and daily specials.
We’re looking for someone who enjoys cooking from scratch, takes pride in presenting good-quality food and can work calmly and efficiently during busy service periods.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a range of fresh light lunches to our recipes and presentation standards
- Help prepare guest breakfasts during the busy season
- Bake homemade scones, cakes and traybakes for the café counter
- Contribute ideas for specials and new menu items
- Ensure orders are prepared accurately and served promptly
- Complete daily kitchen preparation and manage stock rotation
- Monitor stock levels and communicate ordering requirements
- Reduce food waste through careful preparation and storage
- Maintain a clean, organised and hygienic kitchen
- Follow all food-safety, allergen, health and sanitation procedures
- Work closely with kitchen and front-of-house colleagues to provide friendly, efficient service
Skills and experience
- Previous cooking or food-preparation experience in a café, restaurant or similar hospitality setting
- A good understanding of kitchen hygiene and food-safety procedures
- The ability to remain calm and organised in a busy kitchen
- Strong time-management skills
- A consistent approach to food quality and presentation
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- A positive, flexible and dependable attitude
- Baking experience would be an advantage
- Previous customer-service experience would also be beneficial
