Full job description

Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Level 3 Practitioner to join our team and work with us as a full time Deputy Room Lead in our toddler room at our Barnwood Nursery. This role is pivotal in supporting the leadership of our childcare programme, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and educational environment for children. This role comes with the added responsibility of leading the room with support one day a week.

The ideal candidate will have a passion and strong background in early childhood education and a genuine love for working with children.

Your ability to communicate effectively with both children and parents and manage children's needs will be essential in fostering their development and well-being.

This is a full-time, permanent role, and consists of 41 ¼ hours per week on a Rota basis (between the hours of 7.30 a.m. – 6.00 pm for 52 weeks of the year (nursery closes for 1 week at Christmas & all bank holidays)

Duties

Assist in the planning and implementation of engaging activities that promote children's development and learning.
Supervise and manage groups of children, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
Communicate effectively with parents regarding their children's progress and any concerns that may arise.
Foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere within the nursery, encouraging children to express themselves.
Collaborate with the Room Leader to maintain high standards of care and education.
Support the administration of daily operations, including record-keeping and compliance with health and safety regulations.

Requirements/ Experience

Level 3 or equivalent qualification in Childcare is essential (as approved as full and relevant by DfE) Please note unqualified candidates will not be contacted.
Previous experience working with children in a nursery or similar setting is essential.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage groups effectively.
Proficiency in English, both spoken and written, to facilitate clear communication.
A genuine passion for childcare and the development of young children is essential.
