You will be joining an established, fast-growing Tier-1 engineering specialist backed by an international manufacturing group with over half a century of British heritage. Known for top-tier quality standards across global aerospace and automotive sectors, the company has heavily invested in modern, in-house machinery to give their engineering team the finest resources available.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Full-Cycle Tool Management: Executing everything from the hands-on creation of new progressive and compound tools to the refurbishment of the active estate.
- Rapid Fault Resolution: Attending press-side breakdowns to diagnose mechanical issues, keeping high-speed production machinery running seamlessly.
- Advanced Machining: Utilizing conventional and sophisticated CNC machining methods, surface grinding, and state-of-the-art wire erosion centers.
- Quality Assurance: Working accurately to tight engineering tolerances, interpreting design drawings, and supporting initial component testing and trial stages.
- Knowledge Sharing: Acting as a technical sounding board in a highly skilled team, occasionally helping to pass on traditional trade skills to the next generation of apprentices.
What We Are Looking For:
- A time-served, apprentice-trained toolmaker with a strong background in precision metal stamping, progressive, or forming tools.
- Ability to read complex engineering drawings
- Highly capable across conventional workshop machinery (milling, turning, and grinding).
- Previous exposure to wire EDM processing, CNC setting, or high-speed precision press platforms will make your application stand out.
