Full job description

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and professional Locum Pharmacy Dispenser to join our pharmacy team on a temporary basis from as soon as possible for appoximately four weeks in the first instance.

The successful candidate will be responsible for accurately dispensing medications, providing excellent patient care, and supporting the pharmacy’s daily operations. This role offers an excellent opportunity for experienced pharmacy technicians to utilise their skills in a dynamic healthcare environment while ensuring safe and effective medication management.

Responsibilities

Dispense prescriptions accurately in accordance with legal and organisational guidelines
Assist patients with medication queries and provide clear instructions on medication use
Prepare and label medication containers with precision and attention to detail
Maintain accurate records of dispensed medications and patient interactions
Support the pharmacy team with stock management, including inventory checks and ordering supplies
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations within the pharmacy setting
Collaborate with healthcare professionals to optimise patient care and medication safety
Uphold confidentiality and data protection standards at all times

Skills

Proven experience as a pharmacy technician or dispenser, with relevant registration or certification preferred
NVQ2 certificate or equivalent
Strong understanding of medication administration procedures and pharmaceutical regulations
Excellent organisational skills with meticulous attention to detail
Ability to communicate effectively with patients and healthcare professionals
Compassionate approach to patient care, demonstrating professionalism at all times
Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
Good organisational skills, including managing multiple tasks simultaneously
