Salary – £14,600 – £24,000, depending on experience

Hours - Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week

Holiday – 25 days annual leave (excluding bank holidays) increasing by one day per each year of service (up to a maximum of 5 days)

About the CAS Apprentice role

We have an exciting opportunity for a CAS Apprentice at our Ferryhill office.

As a CAS Apprentice, you will support our Client Accounting Services team with bookkeeping, reconciliations, VAT returns, payroll and accounts preparation while studying towards your AAT qualification. This is a great opportunity to gain practical accounting experience, develop your technical skills and build a successful career within a growing accountancy firm. The successful candidate will be based primarily at our Ferryhill office Monday to Thursday, with Fridays spent working from our Stanley office.

Key responsibilities of a CAS Apprentice will include:

Deliver a warm, friendly and professional service to clients in line with the company’s values.
Support bookkeeping activities using cloud-based accounting software.
Process purchase and sales invoices accurately and efficiently.
Assist with bank reconciliations, control accounts and VAT returns.
Support payroll processing and pension administration.
Help prepare management accounts and year-end accounts.
Maintain accurate client records and workflow systems.
Gather and manage client information and documentation in a timely manner.
Support digital systems, software adoption and process improvements.
Develop accounting knowledge through apprenticeship studies, CPD and on-the-job learning.

About you

We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:

Eager to learn, develop new skills and build a career in accountancy.
Organised, detail-oriented and confident working with numbers and technology.
Familiar with bookkeeping, bank reconciliations, VAT, payroll and cloud accounting software.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and comfortable using digital systems and document management tools.
Strong communication, teamwork and client service skills.
Proactive, accountable and committed to delivering high-quality work.
Effective at managing time, solving problems and taking ownership of personal development.
Holds a full UK driving licence and has access to their own transport.
