Project Manager — Nuclear Restoration Services
Locations: North Wales (Covering NRS sites at Trawsfynydd and Wylfa)
Role type: Permanent
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday
We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a project manager to join Amey, supporting our work across Nuclear Restoration Services within Complex Facilities. This role will play a key part in delivering multiple construction and engineering projects across highly regulated operational environments, with projects at different stages including mobilisation, delivery and closeout.
This is a brilliant opportunity for experienced construction or engineering Project Managers who enjoy variety, responsibility and working closely with clients, contractors and operational teams. You’ll be leading projects from early-stage definition through to delivery, helping shape project briefs, assess site requirements, develop programmes, manage risks and keep projects moving safely, commercially and compliantly.
The day-to-day focus will be strongly front-end and pre-construction led, including planning, estimating, client engagement and mobilisation, while also overseeing delivery where required. Typical project values range from £20k to £200k within NRS, with wider project values noted at £2m to £3m.
What you will do
-
Deliver multiple concurrent construction and engineering projects across Nuclear Restoration Services sites, taking responsibility for safety, quality, programme and commercial performance.
-
Work closely with clients to understand requirements, develop project briefs and support early-stage project definition.
-
Visit sites to scope works, identify risks and constraints, and support effective mobilisation.
-
Obtain supplier and subcontractor quotations, prepare cost estimates and support project planning through the pre-construction lifecycle.
-
Develop and maintain project execution plans, delivery strategies, programmes and project documentation.
-
Coordinate multidisciplinary teams including designers, consultants, subcontractors, commercial, engineering, HSEQ and operational colleagues.
-
Manage project risks, opportunities, early warnings and compensation events, including through CEMAR where applicable.
-
Build strong working relationships with clients, supply chain partners, subcontractors and regulatory bodies.
-
Prepare clear project reports, updates and performance information for senior stakeholders and clients.
-
Champion Amey’s Zero Code and help create a positive behavioural safety culture across all project activity.
What we need
We’re looking for people with proven experience delivering construction or engineering projects from pre-construction through to completion, with strong programme, commercial and stakeholder management skills. You’ll be comfortable managing multiple priorities, working with contractors and supply chain partners, and operating in environments where safety, compliance and quality really matter.
You’ll need a strong construction background, supported by an appropriate CSCS card, and ideally SMSTS, IOSH, project management qualifications or MCIOB membership.
You’ll bring:
-
Strong project management, planning and organisational skills.
-
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
-
Commercial awareness, including budget, forecast and financial performance management.
-
Experience working with NEC contracts, CDM Regulations and construction health and safety requirements. [
-
The ability to interpret technical drawings, manage project documentation and produce clear written reports.
-
A proactive, resilient and solutions-focused approach, with the confidence to lead by example.
-
Experience in regulated or framework environments would be advantageous, and nuclear experience is desirable but not essential.
Location and working pattern
The roles are expected to involve regular site presence, with candidates likely to be mainly fixed to travel to both sites with occasional home working where project activity allows.
Security and compliance
For NRS activity, Triple Bar training is required through a three-hour online course with videos and assessment. SC Clearance may also be required, although this may not always be needed before gaining site access.
