Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Mechanic/MOT Tester Workshop Manager to oversee our vehicle maintenance and testing operations in our brand-new 5-bay workshop and MOT testing centre. We're looking for someone who takes pride in their work, has excellent diagnostic skills, and enjoys being part of a professional team. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting MOT tests, performing mechanical repairs, and managing workshop activities efficiently. This role requires a strong technical background, leadership skills, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of safety and quality. The position offers an excellent opportunity to lead a dedicated team within a professional automotive environment.

Responsibilities

Conduct MOT tests in accordance with legal and safety standards, ensuring vehicles meet required regulations.
Perform routine mechanical repairs and servicing on a wide range of vehicles, including diagnostics and troubleshooting.
Supervise workshop operations, organise daily schedules, and allocate tasks to team members effectively.
Maintain accurate records of all work carried out, including parts used and time spent on each job.
Ensure all workshop equipment and tools are properly maintained, calibrated, and stored securely.
Manage stock levels of parts and supplies, placing orders as necessary to ensure smooth workflow.
Enforce health and safety policies within the workshop to promote a safe working environment for all staff.
Provide training and guidance to junior technicians or apprentices as required.
Liaise with customers regarding vehicle repairs, MOT outcomes, and service recommendations.

Qualifications

Proven experience as a mechanic with comprehensive knowledge of vehicle systems and repairs.
Valid MOT tester certification recognised by the DVSA (Driver & Vehicle Standards Agency).
Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when handling vehicle parts or equipment.
Excellent leadership qualities with experience managing a team within an automotive workshop setting.
Good communication skills to interact effectively with colleagues and customers.
A commitment to maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.

Pay: £35,000.00-£43,000.00 per year
