Where Geology Meets Opportunity
Chemostrat is an internationally recognised leader in chemostratigraphy, provenance analysis and integrated stratigraphic solutions, supporting exploration, appraisal and development projects worldwide.
We're looking for a geologist who combines scientific curiosity with a practical, hands-on approach to problem solving. Whether you're an ambitious early-career geologist or a more experienced professional looking for your next challenge, you'll be someone who enjoys taking ownership, embracing new opportunities and working as part of a collaborative team.
This is a varied role that could see you interpreting complex datasets one week, sampling core the next, and supporting wellsite operations or client projects internationally. If you enjoy learning, travelling and getting things done, we'd love to hear from you.
What You'll Be Doing
- Contributing to the delivery of integrated geological studies including chemostratigraphy, provenance, sedimentology, reservoir quality and stratigraphic interpretation.
- Interpreting and integrating a wide range of geological datasets, including geochemical, mineralogical, isotopic and sedimentological data.
- Undertaking sampling programmes in core stores, laboratories and field locations.
- Supporting laboratory activities and analytical workflows.
- Operating and quality controlling analytical equipment following training.
- Delivering geological projects and technical reports to clients.
- Supporting onshore and offshore wellsite operations when required.
- Contributing to research and development initiatives, workflow improvements and new product development.
- Presenting technical work internally, to clients and at conferences.
- Working closely with colleagues across our international business.
- Travelling globally to support projects, wellsite operations, sampling programmes and industry events.
What We're Looking For
We're interested in people who are:
- Passionate about geology and Earth science.
- Naturally curious and motivated to learn.
- Practical, proactive and willing to roll up their sleeves when needed.
- Comfortable working independently whilst contributing positively to a team.
- Willing to take ownership of projects and deliver high-quality outcomes.
- Adaptable, resourceful and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Happy to travel internationally and work away from home when required.
- Willing to undertake onshore and offshore wellsite assignments.
- Strong communicators with excellent attention to detail.
- Enthusiastic, professional and committed to getting the job done.
Desirable Experience
We'd welcome candidates with experience or interest in some of the following:
- Stratigraphy, sedimentology, basin analysis or reservoir geology.
- Geochemistry, mineralogy, provenance studies or petrography.
- Data analytics and visualisation.
- Python and/or R.
- Spotfire, GIS or other geological software.
- Laboratory analytical techniques.
Essential Requirements
- Degree, MSc or PhD in Geology, Geoscience or a related discipline.
- Right to work in the UK.
- Valid driving licence preferred.
- Willingness to travel internationally and undertake wellsite assignments.
What We Offer
· Exposure to international geological projects across a wide range of basins, plays and geological settings.
· The opportunity to work closely with experienced geoscientists and specialists across multiple disciplines.
· International travel opportunities, including fieldwork, core store visits, client meetings and wellsite operations.
· Hands-on involvement in projects from data acquisition through to interpretation, reporting and client delivery.
· A varied role where no two projects are the same.
· Opportunities to develop new technical skills through practical experience, mentoring and on-the-job learning.
· The chance to contribute directly to research, innovation and the development of new geological workflows.
· A supportive, entrepreneurial environment where good ideas are encouraged and individual contributions are visible.
· Career growth driven by initiative, technical capability and impact rather than rigid organisational structures.
· The opportunity to work at the forefront of chemostratigraphy, provenance analysis and integrated stratigraphic interpretation.
We're open to applications from graduates, MSc and PhD candidates, as well as experienced geologists. What matters most is your attitude, aptitude and enthusiasm for the role.
