Full job description

About the Role

We are looking for a hardworking and reliable Workshop Operative to join our busy steel fabrication team. This is a hands-on role preparing steel components for the manufacture of high-quality cattle grids. Working in a fast-paced workshop alongside five experienced fabricators, you'll play a key role in ensuring materials are accurately prepared and production runs smoothly.

This position would suit someone with experience in a workshop, steel fabrication, engineering, or manufacturing environment who enjoys practical work and takes pride in accuracy.

Key Responsibilities:

Measure and cut steel beams, box sections and flat steel to precise specifications.
Prepare materials ready for fabrication, working to cutting lists at first and in time learning to work from the production sheets.
Maintain high levels of accuracy, with cuts completed to the millimetre.
Prepare and load galvanising deliveries each Thursday.
Carry out general workshop duties including housekeeping and daily machine maintenance.
Support the fabrication team to ensure production targets are met - Being able to cover holidays on the welding would be ideal but isn't essential

About You:

Can work accurately and efficiently under pressure.
Is confident reading measurements and working to precise tolerances.
Is comfortable operating, or willing to be trained on, a 4-tonne forklift.
Has a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
Is reliable, committed and looking for a long-term career.
