About the Role

The Angling Trust is seeking a Campaigns and Policy Co-ordinator to support the delivery of our campaigns and policy work across freshwater and marine environments.

This role will help ensure that recreational angling has a strong, informed and influential voice in decisions affecting fisheries, the water environment and access to nature.

Working as part of the Campaigns & Policy team, you will help coordinate campaigns, support policy development and deliver engagement with stakeholders including government, parliament and partner organisations.

Key Responsibilities

Coordinate and support delivery of campaigns, policy and advocacy work across the organisation
Track progress against campaign plans, monitor outcomes and support reporting to funders and the Board
Work with the communications team to ensure campaign activity reaches and engages anglers
Support the delivery of campaigns that mobilise members and supporters, including petitions, consultations and e-actions
Prepare briefings and draft materials for MPs, peers and other stakeholders
Organise and support events such as parliamentary receptions, meetings and roundtables
Assist in producing policy briefings, consultation responses and campaign materials
Monitor policy and political developments relevant to angling and the water environment
Work closely with colleagues across campaigns, policy, communications and membership to ensure coordinated delivery
Represent the Angling Trust within partnerships and stakeholder groups where appropriate

About You

We are looking for someone with:

Experience of coordinating projects or work programmes to deadlines
Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
The ability to present complex information clearly and effectively
Confidence working with a range of stakeholders, including senior audiences
A proactive, self-motivated approach and ability to work independently
Knowledge of environmental, fisheries, water or rural policy
A commitment to the Angling Trust’s mission

Desirable:

Experience in a political, public affairs, NGO or membership organisation
Experience supporting campaigns or engaging supporters
Knowledge of recreational angling or fisheries management
Familiarity with digital campaigning tools or CRM systems

Awareness of UK or international policy relating to marine or environmental

Occasional evening and weekend work will be required

Expenses will be reimbursed in line with Angling Trust policies

Start date: August or September (depending on notice period)

Hours: Minimum 30 hours per week (up to full time)
Term: 2-year fixed-term contract (with potential extension subject to funding)
Location: Hybrid – home/office based with travel as required
