Job Summary:
The Transport Planner is responsible for the daily planning and coordination of transport operations to ensure efficient, safe, and cost-effective delivery of services. The role involves scheduling skip and hook loader work, planning tractor unit routes, managing container load slots, coordinating third-party transport, and ensuring vehicle maintenance compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

Plan daily skip and hook loader jobs to ensure efficient use of vehicles and drivers.
Plan and optimise tractor unit routing to meet operational and customer requirements.
Schedule and manage container load slots to ensure timely loading and delivery.
Coordinate and plan third-party transport movements for Northern Ireland and UK routes.
Monitor vehicle availability and plan truck maintenance, inspections, and servicing.
Check and verify driver maintenance sheets and defect reports.
Ensure all transport activities comply with company procedures and legal requirements.
Communicate daily plans clearly to drivers, yard staff, and management.
Work closely with the Transport Manager to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
Maintain accurate planning records and update transport systems.
Respond to operational issues and adjust plans as required.

Skills & Experience Required:

Previous experience in transport planning, logistics, or fleet coordination preferred.
Good understanding on Northern Ireland roads and routing
Knowledge of skip, hook loader, or container transport operations desirable.
Good understanding of UK transport regulations and driver compliance.
Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
Good communication skills with drivers, customers, and management.
Competent in computer systems and transport planning software.
